The ETH Sustainable Food Processing group in the Department of Health Sciences and Technology uses a combination of emerging food safety approaches, novel protein processing and sustainability assessment to target fundamental challenges in food science and society, such as food security.
We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated to work in a collaborative project with an international food company that focuses on ultra short pasteurization (USP) and ultra short sterilization (USS) in the milli second (ms) domain at high temperatures. The objective is the design, development & technical testing of a USP/USS reactor. The microstructured reactor with high surface to volume ratio needs to be able to realize different residence times, with low spread residence time distributions, by adjustable inner volumes.
The candidate should have excellent academic qualifications, good communication skills, and strong self-motivation. In addition, enthusiasm and talent to engage in engineering questions and the underlying mechanisms as well as in simulation and modelling aspects is required.
Experience in thermal food engineering and processing will be considered a plus. Furthermore, the successful candidate must have a Master and Dr./Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Food Technology, Bioprocessing or a closely-related area. The position will be open until a suitable candidate is found.
